Delegations From Around 100 Countries to Attend Funeral of Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei
Senior officials and delegations from around 100 countries are expected in Tehran for the funeral of Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, including representatives from Pakistan, China, India, and Russia.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Senior officials and delegations from around 100 countries are expected to attend the funeral ceremonies of Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei.
Speaking on Thursday, Baghaei said the condolence ceremonies will begin on Friday morning and continue until noon, while senior foreign officials and political figures are scheduled to participate in the afternoon.
“The farewell and funeral processions of the late Leader are a historic event for the Iranian people, Muslims, and all free people around the world,” Baghaei said.
Delegations From Around the World
Baghaei stated that representatives from approximately 100 countries will attend the ceremonies, including heads of government, parliament speakers, foreign ministers, senior political figures, and special envoys.
Several countries have already confirmed their participation.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Tehran before continuing his official visit to Türkiye.
China will send a senior representative of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress to attend the funeral on behalf of the Chinese government.
India will be represented by its Deputy Foreign Minister, accompanied by the Governor of Bihar State.
Russia will dispatch Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, as the special representative of President Vladimir Putin.
Public Farewell Underway in Tehran
The pure body of Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has arrived at Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran, where a two-day public farewell ceremony is being held with the participation of mourners from across Iran.
The first farewell ceremony was held on Thursday evening at the site of the Leader’s martyrdom, attended by the families of martyrs of the Second and Third Imposed Wars, the families of the martyrs of the Office of the Supreme Leader, and the families of the martyrs of the Vali Amr Protection Corps.
Funeral to Continue in Qom, Iraq, and Mashhad
According to the funeral committee, the ceremonies are being held under the slogan “We Must Rise”.
Following the farewell in Tehran, funeral prayers and public processions will continue in Qom before the body is taken to Najaf al-Ashraf and Karbala in Iraq for additional farewell ceremonies.
Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei will then be laid to rest at the shrine of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Rida (AS) in Mashhad, concluding the nationwide and international farewell to the martyred Leader. (PW)
