In a striking display of internal fracture within the Western foreign policy establishment, over 100 former British and French diplomats have publicly broken ranks, urging their governments to impose joint sanctions on the Zionist entity. The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has officially hailed this unprecedented move, viewing it as a testament to the undeniable moral and legal collapse of Western complicity in Gaza.
The coalition of 102 signatories—comprising heavyweight former officials such as ex-British UN ambassadors Jeremy Greenstock and Emyr Jones Parry, alongside top French foreign ministry veterans Yves Aubin de la Messuzière and Denis Bauchard—published a blistering open letter in Le Monde. Addressed to British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, the letter warns that the Zionist regime’s policies are permanently erasing the possibility of a Palestinian state.
“Palestine is being erased before our eyes,” the envoys wrote, demanding that London and Paris take seven urgent, concrete measures to uphold international law. Their demands strike at the heart of Western military and economic support for Tel Aviv, calling for the immediate suspension of arms transfers, a halt to bilateral military cooperation, and the suspension of both the EU-Israel Association Agreement and the UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement over blatant human rights violations. Furthermore, they demanded a total ban on trade and financial services with illegal Zionist settlements, unrestricted aid access to Gaza led by UNRWA, and strict adherence to the rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In response, senior Hamas official Basem Naim commended the diplomats for acknowledging the gravity of the crimes being committed against the Palestinian people. However, Naim made it clear that words are no longer enough. He urged the French and British governments to translate their nominal recognition of the State of Palestine into decisive, concrete actions that secure a genuine political solution and end the decades-long occupation.
For the Axis of Resistance and the broader Muslim Ummah, this diplomatic rebellion is not a concession from the West, but a direct result of the steadfastness and sacrifices of the Palestinian people. As the Zionist entity continues its genocidal campaign, the unwavering resistance has forced even the former architects of Western imperialism to confront their own governments’ hypocrisy, proving that the truth of Palestine can no longer be suppressed by colonial narratives.
