Courthouse in Southeastern Iran Targeted in Terrorist Attack, Casualties Reported
Iranian security forces acted swiftly, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that resulted in the deaths of three terrorists
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - A terrorist attack shook the city of Zahedan in southeastern Iran on Saturday morning, as armed assailants disguised as civilians stormed the main courthouse in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The assault, carried out by the terrorist group Jaish al-Adl, left six people dead—including a woman and a one-year-old child—and injured 22 others.
Iranian security forces acted swiftly, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that resulted in the deaths of three terrorists.
However, three members of the courthouse security team were also killed while defending the premises. One attacker managed to throw a grenade inside the courthouse before being neutralized, causing serious civilian casualties.
Iranian Officials: Zionist Entity Behind the Attack
Brigadier General Alireza Daliri, Deputy Commander of Law Enforcement in the province, announced during a press briefing that the terrorists were affiliated with the “Zionist entity.”
He stated that the attackers had attempted to infiltrate the judiciary building under the guise of citizens seeking legal services, but were thwarted by the rapid response of security personnel.
Daliri confirmed that the operation had been fully repelled and all members of the terrorist cell eliminated. He further noted the ongoing threat posed by foreign-backed groups such as Jaish al-Adl, which has a history of cross-border attacks, assassinations, and kidnappings in the region.
This latest attack comes just months after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards killed one of the group’s top leaders in an anti-terror operation, underscoring the persistent instability in the province bordering Pakistan. (PW)
