Colombian President Petro Calls for Global Force to Save Palestine
Condemnations no longer enough, urges accountability for Israeli crimes in Gaza
Colombia, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Colombian President Gustavo Petro on Wednesday called for the formation of an international force to save Palestine, stressing that condemnations of “Israeli” crimes in Gaza are no longer sufficient.
Speaking in remarks carried by Al Jazeera Mubasher, Petro said that many countries have expressed readiness to take part in a military force aimed at rescuing the Palestinians.
He underlined the necessity of demonstrating power and holding perpetrators of genocide accountable through the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Petro added that the majority of humanity around the world is demanding an end to the war on Gaza, warning that the continuation of current policies obstructs the realization of international justice.
Criticism of Israel’s Supporters and Solidarity with Qatar
The Colombian president also called for reforming the voting system in the UN Security Council to prevent a single state from imposing its will on the world.
Touching on his country’s stance regarding the “Israeli” attack on Qatar, Petro affirmed Colombia’s solidarity with Doha.
He further criticized the positions of some European countries and global corporations that support “Israel,” describing them as “hypocritical.”
Meanwhile, since October 7, 2023, the occupation forces — with direct support from the United States and Western countries — have continued waging a devastating war on Gaza.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Strip, the aggression has so far resulted in around 232,000 Palestinians killed or injured, while 442 Palestinians, including 147 children, have died of starvation. (PW)
