China Welcomes Strong Russia-India Ties, Says Partnership Boosts Global Stability
The three countries maintaining sound relations is not only in line with their own interests but also conducive to regional and global peace, security, stability, and prosperity
China, PUREWILAYAH.COM — China stated on Monday that good relations between Beijing, Moscow, and New Delhi contribute to global stability and prosperity.
Responding to a question about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s remarks on BRICS cooperation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the three countries are major emerging economies and key members of the Global South, making their engagement important for international peace and development.
“The three countries maintaining sound relations is not only in line with their own interests but also conducive to regional and global peace, security, stability, and prosperity,” Guo said.
He added that China is ready to continue advancing its bilateral relations with Russia and India.
China Signals Continued Effort to Stabilize Ties With India
Commenting on China-India relations, Guo said Beijing “stands ready to work with India to view and handle the bilateral relationship from a strategic height and long-term perspective.”
Ties between New Delhi and Beijing, strained after the 2020 border clash, have been gradually improving since last year.
Putin: China and India Are Close Friends of Russia
In an interview with India Today ahead of his visit to New Delhi, Putin said China and India are Russia’s close friends and that Moscow values its relations with both countries.
He added that Russia seeks to take cooperation with the two nations “to a whole new level, including through enhancing its technological aspect.”
Trade Between Russia, China, and India Expands
China and India have refused to join Western sanctions over the Ukraine conflict and instead increased trade with Russia.
Russia–China trade nearly doubled between 2020 and 2024, surpassing $240 billion.
Russia–India trade grew more than six-fold in two years, exceeding $65 billion in 2024.
During Putin’s New Delhi visit, both sides reaffirmed a target of $100 billion in trade by 2030, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggesting the goal could be reached earlier.
Leaders Meet at SCO Summit
Earlier this year, Putin, Modi, and Chinese President Xi Jinping met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin.
SCO leaders expressed support for Xi’s global governance initiative, which calls for upholding international law, defending multilateralism, rejecting double standards, and ensuring equal participation of all countries. (PW)
