China FM: No Country Can Play the Role of International Policeman
Wang Yi says unilateral bullying is intensifying globally as Beijing and Islamabad reaffirm commitment to international law and sovereignty
China | PUREWILAYAH.COM — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during the China–Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, addressing growing global instability and sharply condemning the United States’ use of force against Venezuela.
Referring to recent international developments, Wang said the global situation has become increasingly chaotic and unstable, with unilateral bullying on the rise, while sudden developments in Venezuela have drawn widespread international attention.
China: No Country Has the Right to Act as Global Judge
Wang Yi stressed that Beijing firmly rejects the notion that any country can assume the role of an international police force or appoint itself as a global judge.
“China has never believed that any country can play the role of an international policeman, nor do we agree that any country can claim itself to be an international judge,” he said, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.
“The sovereignty and security of all countries must be fully protected under international law,” he added.
The Chinese foreign minister reaffirmed that China consistently opposes the use or threat of force in international relations and rejects the imposition of one country’s will on others.
He added that Beijing is willing to work with Pakistan and other members of the international community to firmly uphold the Charter of the United Nations, adhere to international moral red lines, uphold the principle of sovereign equality, and jointly safeguard global peace and development.
Beijing Condemns US Attack on Caracas, Demands Release of Maduro
Wang’s remarks came after the United States launched a sudden military attack early Saturday on Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, detaining President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and transferring them to the United States for prosecution—an act that shocked the international community.
China’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Saturday night strongly condemning Washington’s open use of force against a sovereign state, declaring firm opposition to what it described as America’s hegemonic behavior and a serious violation of international law.
On Sunday, Beijing reiterated its position, calling on the United States to immediately release Maduro and his wife and to abandon attempts to overthrow Venezuela’s government.
Despite China’s strong condemnation, US President Donald Trump once again claimed that his relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping remain “very good,” while promising that Venezuelan oil exports to China would continue.
China and Pakistan Reaffirm “Ironclad” Friendship
Addressing China–Pakistan relations, Wang Yi said the two countries share mountains and rivers, have deeply intertwined interests, close emotional bonds, and a shared destiny.
He noted that China and Pakistan have forged an “ironclad friendship” through repeated tests of international turbulence, with mutual trust and support remaining constant features of bilateral relations.
Looking ahead to the new year, Wang said China is ready to work with Pakistan to implement agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders, strengthen strategic trust, expand practical cooperation, deepen security collaboration, and enhance multilateral coordination. (PW)
