China Emerges as the Main Winner of Trump’s Beijing Visit as Washington Seeks Help on Iran
NBC News says the U.S. president is expected to secure only limited gains, while China strengthens its standing as a global power and potential peace broker in West Asia.
China, PUREWILAYAH.COM — NBC News has reported that Donald Trump is unlikely to achieve major breakthroughs during his three-day visit to China, while Beijing is poised to gain diplomatically by reinforcing its image as a major world power and a possible mediator in West Asia.
According to the report, both Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to pursue only limited victories from the summit, with no significant changes anticipated from their talks.
NBC: Beijing Strengthens Its Global Standing
NBC News said the meeting represents a political win for China, particularly in terms of enhancing its credibility as a rising global power and as a country that could play a broader role in efforts to restore stability in West Asia.
The report noted that Trump is seeking greater Chinese cooperation regarding Iran, despite his previous claim that Washington did not need Beijing’s assistance on the issue.
The apparent shift underscores the strategic importance of China’s close relationship with Tehran and its growing influence in regional diplomacy.
Trump Arrives in Beijing After Delayed Visit
American media reported that Trump began his official visit to China on Tuesday at the invitation of Xi Jinping.
The trip, scheduled to last three days, had originally been planned before the U.S.-Israeli military aggression against Iran in April, but was postponed because of the conflict.
Before departing, Trump publicly insisted that he did not need China’s help in dealing with Iran.
Former U.S. Official: Trump Is Tired of the Iranians
In a separate interview with BBC News, David Schenker, the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, said Trump has become increasingly frustrated by Iran’s refusal to accept Washington’s demands.
“Trump is tired of the Iranians and is not looking to continue the war,” Schenker said.
He added that it was “truly shocking” that the Iranian people and leadership had not surrendered despite sustained pressure and military escalation.
Iran’s Resistance Reshapes Diplomatic Calculations
The failure of the U.S.-Israeli military campaign to break Iran’s resolve is increasingly shaping diplomatic calculations in Washington.
After withstanding weeks of U.S. and Israeli attacks, the Islamic Republic preserved its strategic posture and compelled its adversaries to reconsider their options.
Trump’s decision to seek discussions with China, a close partner of Tehran, highlights the growing influence of countries aligned with a multipolar world order and the diminishing effectiveness of coercive American policies. (PW)
