Brazilian President: Wars in West Asia Are Built on Lies
Lula says West Asia wars rest on fabricated pretexts, cites Iraq and Libya as examples, and questions the basis for a potential U.S. attack on Iran.
Brazil, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that wars in West Asia have been built on falsehoods and fabricated justifications, describing recent narratives around a potential attack on Iran as baseless.
Speaking at the first “Progressive Mobilization” meeting, Lula stated that both U.S. and Israeli military actions in the region have relied on misleading claims rather than legitimate grounds.
He pointed to the 2003 Iraq War, launched under then-U.S. President George W. Bush, as a clear example, noting that it was justified by allegations of weapons of mass destruction that were never substantiated.
Lula also referenced the 2011 military intervention in Libya, describing it as another case in which war was driven by narratives that later proved misleading.
Extending his criticism, the Brazilian leader placed Israel’s military operations in Gaza and its bombardment of Lebanon within the same pattern, characterizing them as a continuation of violence rooted in unfounded claims.
“And now there is talk of a U.S. attack on Iran—on what basis?” Lula said, questioning the justification for further escalation in the region. (FG)
