Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri, has fiercely condemned the Zionist regime, declaring that it has transformed southern Lebanon, its civilians, and their homes into a “bloody ballot box” ahead of the entity’s upcoming October 7 elections.
Speaking on Sunday, the Speaker laid bare the savage nature of the Zionist political and military apparatus. He described the ongoing aggression against the Lebanese South not as a strategic military operation, but as a macabre competition where Zionist politicians and commanders vie for power based on who can murder the most civilians and obliterate the most infrastructure.
Berri’s powerful remarks came just hours after a cowardly Zionist airstrike completely levelled the Ghandour Hospital in the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa. The targeted destruction of a medical facility further exposes the regime’s blatant disregard for all international laws, ceasefire agreements, and basic human decency.
“If these actions indicate anything, they show that the Zionist regime, by continuing its devastating war in a bloody and unprecedented manner, has decisively proven that it has not adhered to any form of ceasefire agreement and has violated all rules, agreements, and understandings,” Berri stated.
He firmly branded the systematic slaughter of Lebanese women and children as pure terrorism, driven by the desperate internal politics of the occupying entity.
Addressing the ongoing carnage, the Parliament Speaker emphasised that the war on the South requires a dual response. On a global scale, he noted that the continuous bloodshed is an “international responsibility, requiring immediate intervention to stop the war against Lebanon.”
However, Berri also issued a rallying cry for domestic unity and steadfastness (sumud). He stressed that the ongoing defence of the South is a sacred “national responsibility.” The Speaker urged all political parties, factions, and citizens to stand united, declaring that the cause of the South is the cause of all Lebanese, and its defence is the indivisible defence of the entire nation against Zionist aggression.
