Ben Gurion Airport Shut Down Following Yemeni Missile Strike
Yemeni Armed Forces declare successful strike on Israeli airport in retaliation for Gaza aggression, halting air traffic and sparking widespread panic
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced on Tuesday that they had successfully launched a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile targeting Ben Gurion Airport—also known as Lydd Airport—in the occupied city of Lydd.
The missile, launched from Yemen, forced a complete halt in airport operations and sent shockwaves across Israeli settlements.
The strike, executed by the YAF’s rocket force, marks one of the most direct and far-reaching retaliatory operations by Yemen in support of the Palestinian people amid the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.
Yemen Vows Continued Support for Palestine
YAF spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed in an official statement that the operation achieved all its intended objectives, describing it as a direct response to Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza.
“This operation was carried out in full solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza and in defense of Palestine,” Saree stated, adding that military operations will continue unabated until Israel ceases its aggression and fully lifts the siege on Gaza.
He further praised the Yemeni people for their unwavering support for Palestine and rejection of foreign domination in the Arab and Islamic world.
Saree also extended his salutations to the Resistance fighters in both Gaza and the West Bank, hailing their courage and sacrifice in defending the dignity of the entire ummah.
Israeli Panic as Sirens Wail Across Major Cities
Shortly after the missile strike, the Israeli occupation forces acknowledged the detection of a ballistic missile launched from Yemeni territory.
The launch came less than 24 hours after an Israeli airstrike hit Yemen’s strategic port of Hodeidah, marking a tit-for-tat escalation between the two sides.
Air raid sirens were triggered across a wide swath of the occupied territories, including:
Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Rishon LeZion, Bat Yam, Holon, Ramat Gan, Givatayim,
Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak, Modi’in, Ness Ziona, Ramla, Lod,
Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malakhi, and Shoam.
The chaos forced Ben Gurion Airport to suspend all takeoffs and landings, delaying multiple flights. Incoming aircraft from New York, Batumi (Georgia), and Katowice (Poland) were held back as Israeli authorities scrambled to assess the situation.
Regional Impact and Escalation Risks
This latest missile strike underscores the growing regional dimension of the Gaza conflict, as allies of the Palestinian Resistance, such as Yemen, increasingly engage in direct military action against Israel.
The use of the Palestine-2 hypersonic missile suggests a significant leap in the capabilities of the Yemeni Armed Forces, raising serious questions about the expanding reach of Resistance forces beyond conventional fronts.
With Israeli operations intensifying and allied forces across the region pledging retaliation, the threat of broader confrontation looms large—thrusting the Middle East into an increasingly volatile phase. (PW)
