Beirut Rally Denounces Israeli Agression, Rejects Normalization
Protesters reject normalization, condemn US interference, and call for unified national backing behind the Resistance
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM — A large popular march was held Monday in Beirut to condemn the continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon, as demonstrators voiced strong support for the Resistance, rejected normalization, and demanded unified national backing during a critical moment for the country.
The demonstration began on Hamra Street in central Beirut, where crowds expressed collective anger over ongoing Israeli attacks and the extended detention of Lebanese citizens in Israeli prisons.
Participants also denounced US interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs and condemned the ongoing Israeli violations, including daily killings and the systematic destruction of border villages.
One of the central slogans raised read: “No sect is protected from Israeli aggression.”
Protesters further emphasized: “We all win when we unite in the face of Israeli aggression,” insisting that strong popular support is essential to reinforce Lebanon’s official stance.
Demonstrators described Beirut as “the capital of resistance and Arab steadfastness,” calling for unity across political and sectarian lines.
Georges Abdallah Urges Mobilization and Honors Martyred Commander
Freed Lebanese prisoner Georges Abdallah addressed the march, urging broad participation in resistance-aligned movements, especially after Israeli assaults on Haret Hreik and Ain al-Hilweh.
Abdallah affirmed that the Islamic Resistance has long championed the building of a sovereign, national state rooted in resistance. He also honored martyred Hezbollah commander Haitham Tabatabai, describing him as a pillar of Lebanese national identity.
Regarding the most recent Israeli aggression, Abdallah stressed that confronting normalization is an essential first step in the broader struggle, declaring:
“Our people will defeat normalization despite all pressure, and we will meet the aspirations of the Arab nation’s masses.”
He reiterated that the armed resistance remains Lebanon’s primary shield of sovereignty, insisting that “there is no excuse for anyone” when it comes to supporting the Resistance.
Lebanese Detainees in Israeli Prisons: A Neglected National Issue
The march also highlighted the plight of Lebanese detainees held in Israeli prisons—an issue protesters said is overlooked by both the Lebanese government and mainstream media.
More than a dozen Lebanese citizens remain detained, many abducted after the November 2024 ceasefire. The detainees reportedly include civilians, resistance fighters, and humanitarian workers, such as nurse Hassan Youssef Qashqoush.
Many detainees have reportedly been transferred to underground prisons such as Rakefet, known for inhumane conditions, including prolonged isolation, beatings, and psychological abuse. (PW)
