Baqaei: No Final Deal Reached, Iran Will Not Retreat From Its Red Lines
Iran dismisses reports of a finalized agreement as speculation and says it will not compromise on its established red lines.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stressed that no final agreement has yet been reached in the ongoing negotiations, describing reports of a finalized deal as mere speculation.
Baqaei said the Islamic Republic of Iran has not reached a final conclusion regarding the draft understanding currently under discussion. According to him, Tehran will only announce a final agreement once it is satisfied that the text fully safeguards the interests of the Iranian nation.
“We have not yet reached a final conclusion regarding the agreement. Whenever we conclude that the text of the understanding serves the interests of the Iranian people, we will announce it,” he said.
U.S. Position Shifts Complicated Negotiations
Baqaei explained that Iran’s position throughout the negotiations has been clear from the outset and that a significant portion of the text had already been finalized. However, he said the United States repeatedly altered positions that had previously been agreed upon.
He emphasized that Iran has consistently demonstrated that it will not compromise on issues it has defined as national red lines.
“The Americans are trying to create the impression that the Islamic Republic has agreed to a deal under pressure, whereas we will never retreat from our red lines,” Baqaei said.
Qatar and Pakistan Continue Mediation Efforts
According to Baqaei, Qatar and Pakistan remain actively engaged in mediation efforts amid the ongoing diplomatic process. However, he argued that recent U.S. actions have negatively affected the course of diplomacy.
He added that Iran has communicated its positions and demands clearly to the mediators.
“The mediators remain active, and we have communicated our positions to them very clearly,” he said.
Strait of Hormuz Remains Closed
Baqaei also stated that diplomatic efforts have been directly affected by what he described as unlawful U.S. actions against Iran.
Addressing the regional maritime situation, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said the Strait of Hormuz remains closed as a consequence of recent U.S. actions.
“The Strait of Hormuz remains closed due to the illegal actions of the United States,” Baqaei said. (PW)
