Bahraini Cleric Condemns Regime’s Normalisation with Zionists, Urges Steadfast Resistance

Sheikh Adel al-Shualla declares that the patience of the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) is not weakness, calling on the faithful to actively confront US-backed oppression.

Manama — In a powerful address to the faithful, prominent Bahraini religious scholar Sheikh Adel al-Shualla delivered a blistering critique of the illegitimate Al Khalifa regime, condemning its authoritarian grip on power, its squandering of public wealth, and its treacherous alignment with the United States and the Zionist entity.

Speaking on the intersection of faith and political duty, Sheikh al-Shualla emphasised that a government built upon the foundations of oppression, tyranny, and subservience to foreign powers possesses no divine or political legitimacy. He accused the Manama regime of acting against the core interests of its own people, sacrificing the nation’s sovereignty to appease American and Zionist agendas while falsely presenting its policies as representative of the broader Muslim Ummah.

The Weaponisation of “Treason” Against the Ulama

A central theme of the Sheikh’s address was the regime’s relentless persecution of the Ulama. He sharply condemned the authorities for weaponising baseless charges of “treason” against prominent religious scholars, preachers, and educators. He noted that these politically motivated arrests are desperate attempts by a failing regime to intimidate the masses and falsely portray the religious community as a threat to the state’s sectarian order.

However, the cleric assured the faithful that the regime’s oppressive tactics have already failed to achieve their objectives and will continue to face insurmountable difficulties in the future.

Arbaeen: A School of Conscious Anticipation

Connecting the ongoing struggle in Bahrain to the universal, revolutionary message of Imam Husayn (AS), Sheikh al-Shualla highlighted the spiritual and political significance of the Arbaeen pilgrimage. He described Arbaeen as a vital platform for “conscious anticipation” (Intizar) of Imam al-Mahdi (AJ), stressing that true faith and anticipation do not breed passivity. Instead, they demand active effort, organisation, and the capacity to confront injustice.

He praised the resilient Bahraini pilgrims who endured regime pressure and restrictions to participate in the march, noting that they carried the names and memories of the oppressed Bahraini scholars unjustly detained by the Al Khalifa security apparatus. For the Sheikh, their participation was a profound demonstration of religious commitment and an act of defiance against state repression.

Islamic Unity and the Inevitability of Victory

Addressing the broader national fabric, the cleric sent a clear message of Islamic unity to Bahrain’s Sunni population, affirming that the Shia community and its demands are rooted entirely in the defense of Islam and Muslims, and should never be viewed as a threat to their Sunni brothers.

He concluded with a stern warning to the ruling elite in Manama: the enduring patience of the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) must never be mistaken for fear, weakness, or indifference. The steadfastness of the Bahraini people is a divine strategy, and their unwavering commitment to the path of Wilayah and resistance will ultimately outlast the fragile, corrupt foundations of tyranny.
