Funeral set in Bandar Abbas as Iran’s leadership underscores the significance of martyrdom and continuity of resistance
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Commander of the Naval Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has been martyred following years of service and frontline engagement.
According to an official IRGC statement, the senior commander succumbed to his injuries after sustained operations in the field.
The IRGC described him as a lifelong fighter who played a central role in confronting enemy forces and strengthening Iran’s maritime defense posture.
“A man of God, a mujahid in the way of Allah, and a great hero of the Third Sacred Defense, after nearly half a century of tireless struggle, became the guest of the Master of Martyrs.”
“He… after delivering heavy blows that led to the destruction of key enemy facilities and the downing of an American fighter jet… was martyred due to the severity of his injuries.”
Leader’s Message: Maritime Power and Resistance
Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei described Tangsiri as a devoted and courageous commander who, after years of struggle, attained the status of martyrdom.
He said the martyrdom of the brave son of Tangestan stands as a great testament of honor for the people of Bushehr, the youth of the southern region, the Armed Forces, and the Iranian nation, which has consistently safeguarded independence and maritime borders, particularly in the Persian Gulf.
“It is a source of pride that will, God willing, strengthen and solidify Iran’s path of maritime power and resistance more firmly than ever before.”
He also extended his congratulations and condolences to the martyr’s family, comrades, and IRGC naval commanders, and prayed for the elevation of his ranks.
President Pezeshkian: Strength Through Martyrdom
Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that martyrdom reinforces national strength and resolve.
He described Tangsiri as a figure from the lineage of the brave men of Tangestan who, with exceptional skill, enhanced the power, prestige, and authority of the IRGC Navy in the Persian Gulf.
“Martyrdom for the men of Iran is a great honor, and the banner of dignity, resistance, and independence rises higher with the blood of each of the brave men of this land.”
He added that the commander acted as a strong barrier against aggressors and those driven by greed, defending the integrity of the Islamic Republic, and noted that he had become a major target for hostile forces.
Funeral Ceremony in Bandar Abbas
Authorities announced that the funeral will be held on Tuesday, Farvardin 11 (March 31), in Bandar Abbas.
“The funeral ceremony of the pure body of Martyr Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri… will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, Farvardin 11.”
“The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. from Shahid Dabbaghian Park (in front of Imam Khomeini Square) in Bandar Abbas and will continue to the Grand Mosque of the city.”
A wide public presence is expected, including families of martyrs, officials, and members of the armed forces.
IRGC Statement: Continuity of Resistance
The IRGC emphasized that the martyrdom will not disrupt operational continuity and that the resistance front will continue its path with greater strength.
“Our nation is accustomed to such martyrdoms and knows that a front which did not stop with the departure of the greatest leaders will continue its path with greater strength.”
“Every fighter is a Tangsiri.”
The statement indicates that Iran’s operational posture and command structure remain intact despite the loss of a senior commander.
“And victory is not but from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise.” (PW)
