Ayatollah Khamenei: World Witnessed Iran’s Resilient Foundations in 12-Day War
In the 12 days, beyond achieving major honors recognized even by the global public, the Islamic Republic and the great Iranian nation demonstrated their strength, resolve, perseverance, and readiness.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — A special ceremony was held today at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah to commemorate the fortieth day since the martyrdom of military commanders, scientists, and civilians who lost their lives in the recent 12-day war imposed by the Zionist regime against the Iranian nation.
The event was organized by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and attended by the families of the martyrs, a wide cross-section of the Iranian public, and senior government officials.
Ayatollah Khamenei opened the ceremony by offering condolences to the bereaved families, particularly the parents, spouses, and children of the martyrs. He prayed for divine rewards for their patience and praised their sacrifice as among the highest honors, both in human and Islamic terms.
Islamic Republic Demonstrated Power, Resolve, and Enduring Stability
The Leader described the 12-day conflict as a significant moment that showcased the determination and capability of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“In these twelve days, beyond achieving major honors recognized even by the global public, the Islamic Republic and the great Iranian nation demonstrated their strength, resolve, perseverance, and readiness,” he declared.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that while the world may have previously heard of Iran’s capabilities from afar, this war allowed adversaries and observers alike to witness Iran’s power up close. “This episode revealed the exceptional solidity of the foundation upon which the Islamic Republic stands,” he said.
Decades of Resistance: A Legacy of Triumph over Conspiracies
The Leader emphasized that such hostile encounters were not unprecedented for the Islamic Republic.
“Since the early days of the Revolution, Iran has endured many challenges — including an eight-year imposed war, various military, political, and security conspiracies, and repeated attempts to pit weak-hearted individuals against the nation,” he said. “Yet the Islamic Republic has triumphed over all these adversities, thwarting every enemy plot over the past 46 years.”
Iran’s Foundation Rests on Religion and Knowledge
Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed that the Islamic Republic is founded upon two essential pillars: religion and knowledge.
He credited these twin principles for the Iranian people’s resilience and success in forcing adversaries to retreat in various arenas. “Our people and our youth, relying on faith and science, have consistently compelled the enemy to back down,” he said. “And so it shall continue.”
He made it clear that the primary reason for the enmity of global arrogance — with the criminal United States at its head — lies in this very combination of religious commitment and intellectual growth.
“They are not opposed to nuclear technology or human rights per se. These are pretexts,” the Leader said. “What disturbs them is the emergence of a new voice and the growing capacity of the Islamic Republic in scientific, technical, human, and religious fields.”
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that since the Revolution, Iran’s population may have doubled, but the number of university students has increased nearly tenfold. “This infuriates them. They cannot tolerate a nation that progresses in faith and knowledge simultaneously,” he added.
Nation Will Not Relinquish Its Faith and Knowledge
With firm conviction, the Leader declared that the Iranian nation will never abandon its religion or its scientific pursuit. “We will take great strides in strengthening our faith and expanding the depth and breadth of our diverse fields of knowledge,” he said.
“By God’s grace, and to the dismay of our enemies, we shall elevate Iran to the heights of progress and honor. This nation possesses the capacity, and with divine assistance, it will apply this power and achieve its goals.”
Honoring the Martyrs and the Spirit of Resistance
During the event, several Qur’anic reciters delivered verses from the Holy Quran. Hojjat al-Islam Rafi’i, in a sermon drawing upon Sermon 182 from Nahj al-Balagha, outlined eight core characteristics of the martyrs of the Battle of Siffin — characteristics he described as mirrored in the martyrs of the recent 12-day war.
These included steadfastness on the path of righteousness, Quranic recitation and application, fulfilling religious duties, reviving divine traditions, resisting innovations, engaging in jihad, and adhering to the leadership.
Rafi’i emphasized that two critical elements of divine support — faith and reliance on God — were clearly visible in the recent conflict and paved the way for the Iranian nation’s endurance and victory.
The ceremony concluded with a poetic tribute by Mr. Mohammad Reza Bazri in honor of the martyrs' bravery and heroism in resisting the Zionist enemy.
He also recited elegies lamenting the sorrows endured by the holy family of the Prophet (Ahl al-Bayt), drawing a spiritual connection between contemporary martyrdom and the timeless narrative of sacrifice in Islam. (PW)
