Tehran — In a resolute message issued on Monday, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, declared that the days of foreign domination that Iran’s enemies desperately seek to revive are gone forever and will never return.
The Leader’s remarks were delivered on the occasion of Sacred Defence Week, which commemorates the start of the eight-year imposed war by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein against Iran (1980-1988). Crucially, this year’s commemoration also coincides with the solemn second anniversary of the assassination of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah and the towering leader of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
A Heroic Symbol of the Resistance
In his message, Ayatollah Khamenei paid a deeply moving tribute to the late Hezbollah chief, describing Martyr Nasrallah as a heroic Arab figure and a monumental symbol of the resistance front.
The Leader emphasised that Sayyed Nasrallah was a sincere well-wisher of his people and his sacred cause. He noted that the martyr’s heartfelt speeches, combined with his unparalleled courageous actions, have continually strengthened the hearts of the Lebanese people and freedom-seekers across the globe.
Furthermore, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted how Sayyed Nasrallah single-handedly elevated the name and standing of Lebanon. He pointed out that under Nasrallah’s leadership, Lebanon transformed from a nation that had for years been treated merely as the “backyard” of certain arrogant powers into a beacon of sovereignty and defiance.
The Banner Carried Forward by Sheikh Naim Qassem
Affirming the eternal nature of the resistance, the Leader stated that victory and triumph had been Sayyed Nasrallah’s constant companions throughout his blessed life. He assured supporters that the martyr’s “proud banner” remains securely in the capable hands of the current Hezbollah Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, who is courageously continuing the path of steadfastness.
Addressing the current geopolitical climate in Lebanon, the Leader described these days as “prominent and honourable” for the followers of the Wilayah and the Axis of Resistance. He sharply contrasted this with the “humiliation and, ultimately, disgrace” faced by those who have pinned their hopes on the false promises of the global powers of domination and their ill-wishers in the face of the Zionist enemy.
A Shining Legacy vs. The Dustbin of History
In his concluding remarks, the Leader drew a stark line between the enduring legacy of the resistance and the inevitable fate of its detractors. He asserted that unlike Martyr Nasrallah, Martyr Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, and the current resistance fighters—whose legacies will “continue to shine like bright stars”—those who chose the opposite course of capitulation will soon be buried and forgotten in the very first pages of history.
Ayatollah Khamenei issued a stern warning to these detractors, stating that whenever they are remembered in the future, their names will forever be associated with bad intentions, poor judgment, and the ultimate disgrace of betrayal.
