Axios: Trump Warns Netanyahu as West Bank Escalation Threatens Gaza Talks
rump warned Israeli Netanyahu that escalating Israeli military and settler violence in the occupied West Bank could trigger the collapse of ongoing negotiations to halt the war on Gaza
United States, PUREWILAYAH.COM - US President Donald Trump has reportedly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reconsider the occupation’s policy in the occupied West Bank, warning that continued escalation could undermine efforts to advance a ceasefire in Gaza.
According to a report published by Axios, Trump raised concerns during a meeting on Monday that intensifying Israeli aggression in the West Bank—particularly settler violence—poses a serious risk to broader negotiations aimed at halting the war on Gaza.
Sources cited by the outlet said Trump’s team views Israel’s conduct in the West Bank as a destabilizing factor that could derail any political progress. One source claimed Netanyahu acknowledged the issue, stating he opposes settler violence and intends to take further action—claims that contrast sharply with realities on the ground.
Settler and Military Violence Continues Across the West Bank
Despite diplomatic rhetoric, the occupied West Bank continues to witness an unrelenting surge in violence by Israeli forces and illegal settlers. Attacks have intensified during critical agricultural seasons, a pattern Palestinian officials say is aimed at forcing farmers off their land.
Data from the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission shows that illegal settlers carried out 621 attacks against Palestinians and their property in November alone.
Since October 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 1,103 Palestinians in the West Bank, including occupied Al-Quds, injured nearly 11,000, and detained approximately 21,000 people, according to Palestinian figures.
These numbers reflect a systematic campaign of violence and repression that continues with full political and military backing from the Israeli occupation.
Raids, Killings, and International Complicity
Israeli occupation forces and settlers carried out a wave of coordinated raids and attacks across West Bank towns and communities over the weekend. Homes were stormed east of Yatta in al-Khalil, settler mobs attacked houses in Huwara near Nablus, and dozens of olive trees were uprooted in multiple areas.
In Jenin, occupation forces withdrew from Qabatiya after a large-scale assault during which Palestinian homes were converted into military barracks. Settlers also cut down around 40 olive trees in the Khillat al-Sidra area, continuing a long-standing pattern of land destruction.
According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, between October 7, 2023, and November 13, 2025, at least 1,017 Palestinians, including 221 children, were killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Al-Quds. These figures exclude Palestinians who died while in Israeli custody.
While Washington presents itself as a mediator, its continued political cover and military support for Israel remain central to the persistence of occupation violence, raising serious questions about the credibility of US-led peace efforts. (PW)
