Araghchi’s Firm Response to UAE at BRICS: Your Alliance with Israel Did Not Protect You Either
Iran says the UAE directly participated in the U.S.-Israeli aggression by opening its territory to military operations and warns that reliance on Washington and Tel Aviv brings no security.
India, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi delivered a forceful response to the United Arab Emirates during the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, declaring that Abu Dhabi directly participated in the recent U.S.-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic and that its alliance with Israel and the United States had failed to protect it.
“Your alliance with the Israelis did not protect you either. You should reconsider your policy toward Iran,” Araghchi told the Emirati representative during Thursday’s session.
Araghchi Responds After UAE Delegate Raises the Issue
Araghchi said he had intentionally refrained from naming the UAE in his prepared speech in order to preserve unity among participating countries.
However, after the Emirati representative challenged Iran’s position during the meeting, he decided to address the matter directly before the BRICS foreign ministers.
“In my speech, I did not mention the United Arab Emirates by name in order to preserve unity,” he said. “But in reality, I must say that the UAE was directly involved in the aggression against my country.”
UAE Opened Its Territory to Military Operations
Araghchi stated that when the aggression began, the UAE refused even to condemn it.
He said Abu Dhabi then allowed its territory to be used to launch artillery and military equipment against the Islamic Republic.
“Therefore, the UAE is an active partner in this aggression, and there is no doubt about it,” he said.
The Iranian foreign minister also referred to reports that Benjamin Netanyahu traveled to Abu Dhabi during the war.
According to Araghchi, the visit further confirmed that the UAE participated in the attacks and may even have acted directly against Iran.
“It became clear that they participated in these attacks and may even have acted directly against us,” he said.
Araghchi Explains His Response After the Meeting
Speaking to reporters after the BRICS session, Araghchi said participants were surprised that the UAE representative chose to focus on Iran’s retaliatory strikes against American targets rather than addressing the aggression itself.
“Everyone present at the meeting found it surprising that the UAE representative had no issue to raise except the war and Iran’s responses to the United States on that country’s territory,” he said.
Araghchi added that Iran had avoided discussing the matter publicly in order to preserve BRICS unity, but was compelled to present the facts after the Emirati delegation brought up the issue.
“We did not want to discuss these issues in order to preserve BRICS unity and cohesion, but since the UAE representative brought them up, we were forced to present the facts to the international community,” he said.
Araghchi said he concluded by advising the Emirati representative that neither the Zionist regime nor the United States is capable of providing genuine security to the UAE.
“The Zionist regime and the United States cannot bring security to them,” he said.
The BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting is being held on May 14 and 15 under India’s presidency, focusing on regional stability, multilateral cooperation, and economic resilience. (PW)
