Araghchi: Venue of Talks May Change in the Second Round
Iran signals flexibility on venue for next round of talks while reaffirming its sovereign stance on uranium and readiness for a real, balanced agreement.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Iran’s foreign minister said Saturday there is a possibility that the venue for the second round of negotiations with Washington could be changed, underscoring Tehran’s commitment to achieving a substantive and balanced agreement while maintaining its sovereign rights.
Speaking in an interview with Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, Seyed Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed that Tehran’s principled position remains firm in opposing any removal of enriched uranium from Iranian territory, a stance he described as central to the nation’s sovereignty.
Araghchi said Iran is, however, ready to consider reducing the level of enrichment as part of a negotiated outcome that he characterized as “realistic and reassuring” for all parties.
Iran Reiterates Opposition to Regional War, Warns Against U.S. Attack
The foreign minister stressed that Iran does not seek a regional war and that countries in the region share this preference — but warned that any U.S. attack could drastically alter the security environment.
Araghchi emphasized Tehran’s seriousness about reaching a deal, saying that during the talks held in Oman’s capital Muscat, he expressed Iran’s willingness to stay as long as necessary to secure an agreement.
Iran and the United States have recently resumed indirect nuclear diplomacy, with talks described by Iranian officials as a “good start” amid ongoing tensions and mutual interest in avoiding direct conflict. (PW)
