Araghchi: Tehran’s Restraint Must Not Be Mistaken for Weakness
Iran Warns US Against Miscalculation, Reaffirms Readiness for Decisive Response While Keeping Door Open to Real Diplomacy
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has issued a firm warning that Tehran’s strategic restraint should not be misread as weakness, stressing that Iran is fully prepared to respond decisively to any act of aggression, while maintaining that it has never sought war with the United States.
In a message published on his official social media account, Araghchi underlined that the choice facing Washington is clear: either continue relying on fabricated narratives promoted by the Israeli regime, or move toward realism, genuine diplomacy, and mutual respect.
Iran Not Afraid of War, But Does Not Seek It
Araghchi stated that the Iranian people are not afraid of war, as demonstrated in past confrontations. However, he emphasized that Iran has never pursued military conflict with the United States.
He noted that Tehran’s restraint—which must not be mistaken for weakness—has been the sole reason why US military bases across the region have remained safe, warning that any miscalculation would fundamentally alter this reality.
Israel No Longer Seen as an Asset in the West
Pointing to growing dissent within the United States and Western countries, Araghchi said an increasing number of analysts and policymakers have concluded that Israel is no longer an ally, but a strategic liability for Washington.
He added that this reality became particularly evident during the critical months of June and July, when the scale of Israel’s vulnerability was exposed—despite Western media failing to accurately reflect the extent of damage to the regime’s airspace in the face of Iran’s indigenous and advanced missile capabilities.
According to Araghchi, during that period Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was forced to request assistance from the then US president in order to escape a crisis of his own making, underscoring the fragility of Israel’s deterrence posture.
Iranian Armed Forces Ready for Any Aggression
The Iranian foreign minister stressed that, drawing on the experiences of June and July and while maintaining the highest level of readiness, Iran’s armed forces remain fully prepared to deliver a decisive response to any aggression.
He recalled that even Donald Trump himself had previously described a potential Iranian response as “very severe,” reinforcing Tehran’s deterrence credibility.
Araghchi reaffirmed that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons, stressing that this position is not a political tactic but a core element of Iran’s strategic doctrine—rooted in religious principles, ethical considerations, and national security calculations.
At the same time, he made clear that Iran will never retreat from its lawful and legitimate rights, which belong not only to the present generation but also to future generations of Iranians.
A Narrow Window of Choice for Washington
In closing, Araghchi emphasized that the path before Washington is unmistakable: either continue relying on distorted Israeli narratives and proxy-driven policies that have produced instability, miscalculations, and costly failures for the United States, or shift toward rationality, diplomacy, and mutual respect.
For those in Washington willing to choose a different course, Araghchi warned, only a short window of opportunity remains. (PW)
