Ali Larijani: Every U.S.-Israeli Plot Has Failed, Iran Stands Firm and Teaches the Enemy a Lesson
Ali Larijani says Washington and Israel aimed to break Iran apart, but national unity, Ashura spirit, and state management crushed the plot.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the main objective of the United States and its allies in the recent war was to fragment Iran, but the plan failed due to national unity and effective state management.
Speaking about the developments of the first eight days of the war, Larijani said the conflict must be viewed from a broader strategic perspective in order to understand the real objectives behind it.
Referring to statements by American officials and their allies, he said recent remarks by Donald Trump, Zionist leaders, and some regional actors clearly revealed their intentions.
According to Larijani, the objective was not simply political change inside Iran.
“Their goal was not merely a minor change in Iran,” he said. “For a country as large as Iran, such an idea has no meaning. Their goal was the fragmentation of Iran, and the main issue for them is Iran itself.”
Assassination of Iran’s Leader Was Part of the Strategy
Larijani said the war began with a large-scale assault designed to shock Iranian society.
He pointed to the assassination of Imam Ayatullah Sayyed Ali Khamenei and the martyrdom of several military commanders and members of the armed forces.
He said these events created deep sorrow across the country but also strengthened the spirit of resistance among the Iranian people.
According to Larijani, the enemy believed such a shock could destabilize Iranian society and break public morale.
However, he said the plan failed.
Ashura Culture Strengthened National Unity
Larijani emphasized that Iranian society draws strength from deep historical and cultural foundations.
He pointed to the influence of the culture of Ashura and the epic of Imam Husain.
“In the event of Ashura there was also a great shock accompanied by immense sorrow,” he said. “But within it a spirit of heroism, endurance, and solidarity emerged.”
According to Larijani, the same spirit can now be seen among the Iranian people during the current conflict.
U.S. Miscalculated Iran
Larijani said one of the biggest problems for U.S. decision-makers is their lack of understanding of West Asia and Iran.
He said American officials believe that the same strategies used in other countries can be repeated in Iran.
“They imagine the same models they attempted in some countries such as Venezuela can also be repeated in Iran,” he said.
“But here the thinking and conditions are completely different.”
Economic Pressure Strategy Failed
Larijani said another part of the strategy was to disrupt the daily lives of Iranian citizens.
According to him, Washington expected shortages of fuel, food, and basic necessities to trigger unrest inside the country.
However, he said the Iranian government successfully maintained supply chains despite the pressures of war.
He noted that fuel supplies continued without disruption even as travel across the country increased during the first days of the conflict.
Food distribution was also maintained nationwide and essential supplies reached all regions of the country.
U.S. Psychological Warfare and Disinformation
Larijani also rejected claims that Iranian military commanders had contacted the United States or intended to defect.
He said these narratives were part of a psychological warfare campaign.
According to him, such claims were spread through propaganda and in some cases fabricated using artificial intelligence tools.
Meanwhile, Iranian commanders continue to fight and defend the country on the battlefield.
Attempts to Provoke Ethnic Divisions Failed
Larijani said the United States also attempted to encourage separatism inside Iran.
He said Washington tried to establish contacts with groups in Kurdish regions and encourage them to act against the Iranian government.
However, those attempts failed.
Larijani emphasized that Kurdish communities are a deeply rooted and respected part of Iranian society and are well aware of U.S. behavior in other countries of the region, including Syria.
Attacks on Schools and Hospitals
Larijani said that after earlier strategies failed, the enemy escalated its actions by targeting civilian areas.
He cited attacks on schools, including a girls’ school, as well as strikes on hospitals and medical facilities.
He also referred to recent threats made by Donald Trump suggesting that additional locations in Iran could be targeted.
Despite these pressures, Larijani said the Iranian people remain united.
Attempts to Create Internal Division Failed
Larijani said the United States had invested heavily in creating divisions inside Iranian society.
He said Washington believed political differences among Iranians could be turned into social and political fragmentation.
However, he said the strategy failed.
According to Larijani, Iranians may have different views but remain united when it comes to the country and its territorial integrity.
War Has Imposed Costs on the United States
Larijani also questioned the decision-making behind the war, referring to remarks attributed to Donald Trump suggesting he had been “tempted” to take certain actions.
He said such language raises serious questions about how major military decisions are made.
Larijani added that reports indicate U.S. forces have already suffered casualties in the region during the conflict.
Iran’s Policy Toward Regional Countries
Larijani said Iran maintains friendly relations with neighboring countries and has historically supported them during times of crisis.
He noted that when Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, Iran did not retaliate against those countries.
Similarly, when the United States invaded Iraq, Iran supported the Iraqi people.
“Our neighbors are our friends,” he said.
However, he issued a clear warning regarding the use of regional military bases.
“If in this war a base is provided to the United States and operations are carried out from it against Iran, the Islamic Republic has the right to respond,” Larijani said.
“This is a legal and non-negotiable right.”
Iran Remains United
Larijani concluded by emphasizing the unity of the Iranian people and leadership despite the pressures of war.
“In the struggle against the United States and Israel, there is no division in the country, and there is full coordination between the people and the officials,” Larijani said. (PW)
