Al-Quds Brigades Confirm Communication Lost with Unit Guarding Israeli Soldier
The announcement came following a series of intensified raids and incursions by occupation forces into areas suspected of holding captives.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Amid relentless Israeli military aggression on Gaza, the Al-Quds Brigades—the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad—announced Tuesday evening that it has lost contact with the unit assigned to guard Israeli soldier Rom Bresslavsky.
The announcement came following a series of intensified raids and incursions by occupation forces into areas suspected of holding captives.
In a statement issued via Telegram, the group's spokesperson Abu Hamza confirmed:
“Since yesterday, contact has been lost with the security group holding the soldier Rom Bresslavsky, following the occupation forces’ incursion and their siege of areas where the captive was located. We do not know their fate at this moment.”
Resistance Accuses Israel of Endangering Its Own
The statement sharply criticized the Israeli government, accusing it of recklessly endangering its own citizens for the sake of military goals:
“Since the beginning of the genocidal war against our people, the criminal Netanyahu and his extremist far-right government have deliberately ignored the issue of their captives and are actively seeking to kill them and return them to their families in coffins,” Abu Hamza declared.
Such accusations reflect a growing belief among Palestinians and even segments of Israeli society that the government’s military calculus prioritizes destruction over the safe return of its own captives.
Bresslavsky’s Plea: “Stop This Stupid War”
Bresslavsky’s captivity had already been confirmed. In a video released by the Al-Quds Brigades on April 16, he directly addressed Prime Minister Netanyahu and former U.S. President Donald Trump:
“My blood is on your hands, Prime Minister Netanyahu. Where are your promises to free us?”
“You must stop this stupid war. You have failed. End this nightmare—or at least bring food into Gaza so that some of it can reach us.”
His emotional appeal highlighted the desperate conditions captives face, while also questioning the strategic logic behind the Israeli military campaign.
Voices of Dissent Within Israel
Bresslavsky’s message echoed the frustration building within Israeli society. In April, hundreds of reservists, naval officers, and physicians signed public letters demanding an end to the war, warning that continued escalation was putting captives at greater risk.
Their concerns have proven valid: at least 40 Israeli captives have reportedly died during the ground invasion—deaths seen by many as avoidable, had diplomatic avenues been pursued.
Resistance: No Captive Freed by Force
The Palestinian Resistance maintains that the military approach adopted by Israel has utterly failed.
In a July 18 statement, Hamas reiterated that the only path forward is a prisoner exchange on Resistance terms:
“No prisoner has ever been freed through military pressure,” Bresslavsky had previously warned—an assertion now backed by the tragic outcomes on the ground.
Collateral Damage or Calculated Sacrifice?
The disappearance of the guard unit adds to the growing body of evidence suggesting that Israel’s military policy not only devastates Palestinian civilians, but also sacrifices its own soldiers in a futile bid to crush resistance.
Thousands of civilians in Gaza have already been killed, with homes, hospitals, and schools turned to rubble—all under the pretext of rescuing captives. Yet, not a single hostage has been safely recovered through force.
A Clear Message from the Resistance
As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to spiral, with captives’ voices fading and civilian death tolls rising, the Resistance delivers a message that resonates far beyond the battlefield:
“The occupation will not recover its prisoners through bombs—but only through justice.” (PW)
