Al-Hayya: Hamas Seeks Responsible and Serious Negotiations to End Gaza War
Hamas Delegation Arrives in Egypt to Pursue Ceasefire Talks and Prisoner Exchange Based on Palestinian Rights
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Head of the Hamas negotiating delegation in Cairo, Khalil al-Hayya, affirmed that the movement arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh to engage in responsible and serious negotiations aimed at ending the war on Gaza.
Speaking to Cairo News Channel from Sharm el-Sheikh, al-Hayya said that the delegation carries “the goals and aspirations of our people for stability, statehood, and self-determination.”
He added, “We appreciate the efforts made by the Islamic and Arab countries and by U.S. President Donald Trump to bring about a complete end to the war.”
Al-Hayya further stressed that Hamas came with a clear and direct objective—to end the war, arrange a prisoner exchange, and secure the release of Israeli detainees. He underlined that the movement, acting with full responsibility, seeks to halt the bloodshed, but “the occupation continues its killing and genocide.”
He also warned that “the occupation reneges on its promises regarding the cessation of the war,” emphasizing the need for firm guarantees ensuring a final end to the aggression, as “the Israeli occupation has waged a frenzied war on the Gaza Strip for two consecutive years.”
Hamas Delegation in Cairo for Ceasefire Negotiations
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced that its delegation, headed by Dr. Khalil al-Hayya—its leader in the Gaza Strip—has arrived in Egypt to begin negotiations on mechanisms for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of occupation forces, and a prisoner exchange.
Hamas had earlier announced, on Friday evening, that it had delivered its response to mediators regarding the proposal put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war on Gaza.
On Monday evening, the White House revealed details of Trump’s plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip, stating that “if both sides agree to this proposal, the war will end immediately.”
According to the proposal, the agreement entails the return of living Israeli captives and the remains of the deceased within 72 hours of the announcement, the disarmament of the resistance, and the drafting of an economic and administrative plan for the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the Gaza Government Media Office reported that Israeli forces have continued their aggression on the Strip “despite calls for a ceasefire.” It added that Israeli warplanes and artillery carried out more than 93 airstrikes over the past 24 hours, targeting densely populated and displaced areas.
