Egypt, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Ahmed El-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and one of the most prominent Islamic authorities in the Arab world, issued a firm condemnation of the Israeli regime’s ongoing aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a statement released on Friday in three languages, Tayeb denounced Tel Aviv’s actions as a “systematic campaign” of violence and warned of serious consequences if the international community continues to allow such acts.
“I strongly condemn the ongoing aggression by the occupying entity against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the systematic attacks and continued recklessness committed by this usurping aggressor and its backers,” the statement read.
A Dire Warning: Region on Brink of Explosion
The Grand Imam cautioned that Israeli escalation risks dragging the entire Middle East into a broader war.
“This aggression threatens to push the region to the brink of explosion and ignite a full-scale war,” he warned, “from which only arms dealers and profiteers of bloodshed would benefit.”
His remarks underscore concerns that the conflict could spiral into a larger confrontation involving multiple regional and global powers.
Global Inaction Equals Complicity
Tayyeb also took aim at world powers and international organizations for failing to condemn or stop the Israeli regime’s aggression.
“Silence in the face of this tyranny, and the failure to put an end to it, amounts to complicity in the crime,” he said. “War cannot create peace.”
He stressed that the international community’s passivity has only emboldened Israel’s acts of aggression.
One Week of War: Iran Retaliates After Israeli Assassinations
The statement comes as Israel’s aggression against Iran marks its first week, beginning with the targeted assassinations of senior Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians last Friday.
In retaliation, Iran launched multiple waves of missile and drone attacks under the banner of Operation True Promise III, inflicting heavy damage on Israeli military and intelligence infrastructure throughout the occupied territories. (PW)
