Abdel Bari Atwan: Netanyahu Pushes for Renewed Genocide in Gaza
The Palestinian Analyst Condemns U.S.-Israeli Threats, Warns of Fabricated Pretexts to Resume War
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Prominent Palestinian journalist and editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm, Abdel Bari Atwan, has fiercely condemned ongoing Israeli attempts to sabotage the Gaza ceasefire and reignite the genocidal war.
Atwan accuse the Israeli regime and its American backers of exploiting delays in recovering the bodies of Israeli captives as a pretext for renewed bloodshed.
In his latest editorial, Atwan expressed disbelief over the uproar within the Israeli cabinet regarding the delayed retrieval of a handful of deceased captives still buried under rubble in Gaza. He questioned why Tel Aviv is rushing to recover corpses while simultaneously threatening to halt humanitarian aid and resume mass killing.
“How does this delay harm them?” Atwan asked, stressing that such outrage is being used to justify a return to war, starvation, and ethnic cleansing.
Netanyahu Fabricating Excuses to Resume Genocide
Atwan noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now hiding behind “Trump’s so-called plan” — a propaganda tool — to justify the continuation of violence.
He condemned the shameful silence of the U.S. administration, Arab mediators, and normalization regimes who attended the “disgraceful conference” in Sharm el-Sheikh, offering cover for Israel’s crimes.
Netanyahu, in recent remarks, arrogantly admitted his intent to resume war, declaring:
“The war for Israel is not over… Anyone who extends a hand against us will pay dearly, because Israel stands on the front lines between barbarism and civilization.”
Atwan responded sharply:
“God forbid! Netanyahu, who massacred 70,000 civilians in Gaza — half of them children and infants — who injured over 250,000 more, destroyed 95% of Gaza’s buildings and homes, and imposed siege, hunger, and displacement on over two million people, now dares to speak of civilization?”
Israel Blames Hamas to Escape Ceasefire Commitments
According to Atwan, Tel Aviv is attempting to hold Hamas responsible for delays in retrieving the remaining bodies — fewer than the fingers on one hand — despite the immense destruction caused by Israeli bombardment and the absence of equipment in Gaza.
He argued that Israel is merely evading the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire and seeking justification to reignite its genocidal assault.
Trump Threatens Direct U.S. Intervention Against Gaza
Atwan also revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump issued unprecedented threats before the ceasefire began.
Cheered by participants at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, Trump threatened to deploy American forces if Hamas refused to lay down arms. He went even further, warning that if Hamas failed to release Israeli captives within 72 hours, he would give Israel a green light to immediately resume the war on Gaza.
Resistance Stands Firm as Arab Regimes Remain Silent
In closing, Atwan declared there is no use in appealing to Arab governments and generals “whose chests are filled with medals yet empty of dignity.” True hope, he said, lies only in the Resistance — which remains steadfast in faith, sacrifice, and valor.
“In the end, the Almighty stands with the Resistance — the Resistance that has held its head high, sparing nothing in blood and soul.” (PW)
