A Stain on the Conscience of the West: Remembering the 290 Martyrs of Flight 655
The Foundation for the Preservation of Sacred Defence Works condemns decades of Western complicity in American state terrorism and honours the innocent lives stolen by Global Arrogance.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - On July 3, 1988, the bloodstained hands of Global Arrogance turned the waters of the Persian Gulf red with the blood of 290 innocent souls. Today, as the Islamic Ummah commemorates the tragic downing of Iran Air Flight 655 by the US Navy’s USS Vincennes, the Foundation for the Preservation of Sacred Defence Works and Values has issued a resounding condemnation. The Foundation denounced not only this barbaric act of state terrorism but also the enduring, hypocritical silence of Western governments.
In its profound statement, the Foundation immortalised the events of that fateful day as one of the most painful and inhumane atrocities of the contemporary era. The slaughter of unarmed men, women, and children was no mere “mistake,” as the imperialists desperately claimed. Rather, it was an act of extreme cruelty and a blatant violation of international law, perpetrated by an empire built on the subjugation of independent nations.
“This crime is not only a shameful stain on the foreheads of those who falsely champion human rights, but it stands as a glaring testament to the oppressive and violent nature of the US imperialist system,” the Foundation declared. “It shall never be erased from the historical memory of the Iranian nation, remaining forever as an undeniable document of American brutality and lawlessness.”
The statement illuminated a stark truth that echoes powerfully through the Resistance Axis today: the “deadly silence” of the West following the attack served as a tacit endorsement of Washington’s bloodlust. The Foundation argued that this Western apathy emboldened hegemonic powers to pursue further military interventions and massacres of oppressed peoples across the globe—a devastating reality we continue to witness today at the hands of the criminal United States and the occupying, child-killing Zionist regime.
Yet, the blood of the oppressed is never shed in vain. The Foundation emphasised that the Iranian nation, guided by the divine wisdom of the Great Architect of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA), and the steadfast, visionary path of the martyred Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, remains unbroken.
Concluding its message, the Foundation asserted that the only path toward dignity, true justice, and resilience against these corrupt, arrogant powers lies in the absolute unity of the Islamic Ummah. Bound together under the enlightening and resolute guidance of the new Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the honourable Iranian nation will continue to stand as the vanguard of resistance against global oppression.
We honour the memory of the 290 martyrs of Flight 655. May their enduring legacy water the tree of our ongoing struggle against Global Arrogance, until the dawn of ultimate justice. (PW)
