As the COVID 19 keeps fast spreading beyond borders across the world, the virus has now caused serious concern in Afghanistan nationwide. Over a hundred positive coronavirus cases have so far been confirmed in the country.

The economic fallout from the COVID-19 epidemic in Afghanistan, where over 60 percent of the population live below the poverty line, has created grave misgivings among both the government and people.

That is why the Afghan government says all arrangements have been made to reduce the negative impact of putting some big cities like Kabul in quarantine.

People in Afghanistan are not battling the threat of the coronavirus alone as high prices and shortage of food and hygienic materials have also sparked fears that the country might be struck by starvation.

But officials say the government seriously deals with hoarders to avoid further crisis.

The closure of most Afghan borders is said to be another reason behind a sharp jump in prices in Afghanistan.

As Afghanistan’s economy is dependent on imports, the closure of more borders due to the COVID-19 threat is expected to even create another crisis.

That is why people want the government to do whatever it can to either increase imports or urgently find another solution to put an end to the shortage of food and sanitary items.
