Press TV, Seoul South Korea celebrated the historic National Foundation Day Thursday with a ceremony in the capital Seoul.

Surrounding the venue however, were hundreds of thousands of protesters demanding the ouster of what they see as a communist president and the imprisonment of his recently appointed justice minister. South Korea seems to have caught impeachment fever as Moon’s choice to reform the prosecution - and his family – is embroiled in an ongoing corruption scandal, which was seized upon and conflated by the conservative press.

Some question the value of the rallies, while calling for understanding.

Following the massive rally, the protesters – many bused in from across the country – marched towards the presidential office.

They remember three years ago, when their conservative President Park Geun-hye, was herself impeached by a so-called candlelight revolution.

The recent protests and demonstrations by conservatives have not gone unanswered.

This Saturday liberals will get out in support of President Moon Jae-in’s embattled new justice minister, with more than one million expected to demonstrate near the capital’s main courthouse
