Iran-Syria Joint Chamber of Commerce has held a conference in Tehran on the business opportunities of the two countries. Trade opportunities and the commodity and services needs of Syria, the ways of presence in the Syrian market, the Syrian trade structures, Iran-Syria credit lines and money transfer strategies and routes and methods of transportation between Iran and Syria were among the main topics discussed during the conference.

Speaking at the event, head of Iran-Syria Joint Chamber of Commerce Keyvan Kashefi presented a report on the condition of the two countries’ trade and pointed to some of the major potentials and challenges in the way of expanding mutual economic ties.

The conference is seen as a prelude to the development of Iran-Syria relations in the upcoming Iranian calendar year, which begins on March 21.

Iran’s government and private sectors have made coordination to widen presence in the Syrian market.

Lifting tariffs on goods exported to Syria is viewed as a good incentive for exporters.

Experts believe in addition to exporting good Iran has high capacity for cooperation in the field of exporting technical and engineering services to Syria.

Tehran and Damascus plan to create an internal swift between the Central Banks of Iran and Syria in order to counter the sanctions.

The plan is in the final stage which will resolve problems of money transfer between the two countries
