PM-designate Najib Mikati preliminarily approved the Iranian fuel donation during his meeting with the Iran's ambassador to Lebanon Mujtaba Amani who offered the Lebanese statesman an official offer in this regard.

According to MP Ali Darwich, Mikati said that he would give the final okay after studying the fuel specifications to check whether it suits the Lebanese power plants.

Energy minister Walid Fayyad told Al-Manar that he had prepared himself to travel to Tehran once Mikati grants him the final approval, adding that such a step cannot be taken with a governmental decision.

It is worth noting that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had announced during his recent televised interview that he is ready to mediate a free fuel donation from Iran in order to cope with the power crisis in Lebanon.

Fear of the US sanctions prevented the Lebanese government from accepting the offer immediately.

So, will Mikati change his attitude and approve the Iranian donation?
