Tehran, March 30, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi on Monday referred to holding elections in the disputed area of Karabakh and stressed the need for settlement of Karabakh contention within the framework of international principles and law.

"Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to any move that will fan the flames of tension in the region," he said.

"We believe that any move that will complicate settlement of disputes between Iran's neighboring states of Armenia and Azerbaijan Republic should be avoided," Mousavi said.
