TEHRAN, April 15 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a telephone talk with his Egyptian counterpart has emphasized his country’s opposition to war in the region.During a telephone call on Sunday evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional issues.

The top Iranian diplomat explained Iran's stance on the response and countermeasures of the Iranian armed forces in targeting the Zionist regime, which is based on the principle of defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

The top Iranian diplomat also emphasized Iran's opposition to the war in the region and called on everyone to work together to stop genocide and war crimes in Gaza.

Shoukry expressed concern over the escalation in the region, given the continuation of the Zionist regime's war against Gaza and the slaughter of the Palestinian people, stressing that all parties should work to prevent escalation.

He also stated that Egypt would actively continue its efforts to stop the war against Gaza.
